President’s Corner

Dear Chargers,

Zani Imetovski, USGA President

Zani Imetovski, USGA President

The semester will soon come to a close and my term will officially come to an end on July 1. I am profoundly grateful and humbled to be given the opportunity by you to serve as your President; it will be an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

This year would not be possible without my dedicated Executive Board members; Andrew Collins, Colby Thammavongsa, Isaak Kifle, Megan Scutti and Sean McFadden. They have worked hard and devoted countless hours to serving the student body and our clubs and organizations. I also thank Dean Johnson, Greg Overend, Shelissa Newball, Andrew Mayer and Colleen Kerrigan who have always supported myself and USGA.

At the end of the day it is important to remember that our time here at UNH is short and we should make the most of it. The most rewarding experience you can take from this campus is the friends you meet and the experiences you share together. When you finally leave UN, I hope you keep in mind to do good where you can, be kind and leave a positive impact on your community.

Warm regards,

Zani Imetovski

Chargers,

This week take the some time out of your busy schedules and call someone from your family like your grandparents. Family is one of the most important things in our lives that we easily take for granted.

This week is the last week to submit your applications to run for USGA President, Treasurer or Senator. Go to USGA’s Charger Connection page, and under forms, you will find the application which you can fill out and submit.

I ask that everyone be as careful as possible when walking around campus because of the wet floors and ice on the walkways. Take extra precaution when using the stairs and always use the hand railing.

Yours truly,

Zani Imetovski

Fellow Chargers,

zani_newspaper photo

Recently I stumbled across something I read some time ago and would like to share with you:

“If you sometimes get discouraged consider this fellow:

He dropped out of grade school.

Ran a country store.

Went broke.

Took 15 years to pay off his bills.

Took a wife. Unhappy marriage.

Ran for the House. Lost twice.

Ran for the Senate. Lost twice.

Delivered a speech that became a classic. Audience indifferent.

Attacked daily by the press and despised by half the country.

Despite all this, imagine how many people all over the world have been inspired by this awkward, bright—rumpled, brooding man who signed his name simply,

A. Lincoln.”

Sometimes you just have to keep on going, even if all you want to do is give up. I wish you all well and a great week.

Presidents CornerChargers,

As we begin approaching Thanksgiving break, I would like to remind everyone the importance of giving back to the less fortunate and reminding yourself what you are thankful for. I am personally thankful for my family, friends and brothers that have made me the person I am today.

We are only weeks away from the end of the semester, and for those of you who feel that you may be burning out or becoming exhausted, just keep moving forward. We are almost done, and soon you will be on winter break. As Winston Churchill once said, “If you are going through hell, keep going.”

As always if you need any help my door is always open or you can reach me by email at USGApresident@newhaven.edu.

Yours truly,

Zani Imetovski

Chargers,

Presidents Corner

On Monday we remembered the generations of distinguished veterans who served our country and guarded our precious freedoms. These men and women have answered the call to service, and through dedication and sacrifice, have contributed to the enduring spirit of the U.S. America’s veterans have lived up to the now famous words of John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

To the veterans that are on our campus today, on behalf of the undergraduate student body I thank you for your service. The service of our veterans reminds us of the source of Americans greatness.

At 11 a.m. on November 13 in Dodds Theater, the Bartels Lecture will be taking place. The lecture is given by Shelley Stewart ‘90 EMBA and is titled “Creating the Right Balance.” It is guaranteed to be an interesting lecture and I hope to see you there!

With best wishes,

Zani Imetovski

USGA President
